PBL : An active, collaborative and self directed learning strategy

- problem situated in everyday life
- student start a learning process with a problem related to everyday life and there is more than one solution (illustrated) for the problem

- Ill-structured, complex problems provide the focal point(s) and stimuli for the course, curriculum and/or program
- Learning is student-centered
- Faculty act as a coach or facilitator
- Students work in small groups to solve/provide multiple solutions to problems
- Learner assessment is enhanced by self and peer assessment
STEPS IN PBL
- Meet the problem
- List known facts, list unknowns and research unknowns
- Generate possible solutions
- Choose most viable solution
- Report solution
