PROBLEM BASED LEARNING!!!

PBL : An active, collaborative and self directed learning strategy
  • teaching method or instructional approach that uses real life illustrated problems
  • problem situated in everyday life
  • student start a learning process with a problem related to everyday life and there is more than one solution (illustrated) for the problem
 
CHARACTERISTICS OF PBL!!!
  • Ill-structured, complex problems provide the focal point(s) and stimuli for the course, curriculum and/or program
  • Learning is student-centered
  • Faculty act as a coach or facilitator
  • Students work in small groups to solve/provide multiple solutions to problems
  • Learner assessment is enhanced by self and peer assessment


STEPS IN PBL
  1. Meet the problem
  2. List known facts, list unknowns and research unknowns
  3. Generate possible solutions
  4. Choose most viable solution
  5. Report solution
